Barker’s Energy Centre
Supporting the beloved Barker’s of Geraldine operations through the supply of steam to their factory.

The Energy Centre is in the Barkers Fruit Processors Ltd (Barkers) factory in Geraldine. Barker’s is one of New Zealand’s most recognised food product brands. A long-established processor of food products, jams, fruit syrups, sauces, Barker’s supply a number of well known brands into the New Zealand and Australian markets.
Pioneer Energy Renewables partnered with Barker Fruit Processors to supply steam to their product processing operation. Designed, built and owned by Pioneer Energy Renewables, the 1.2 MWth solid fuel steam boiler, is run on renewable wood fuel, Pioneer Energy Renewables has overall responsibility for the operation and maintenance of the boiler plant.
The plant was built in 2012 and consists of two steam boilers (solid fuel, fired on seasoned woodchip), associated plant and a steam pipeline from the Energy Centre to the factory.
