Located in a gorge along the Mangapehi River, south of Te Kuiti.

Mangapehi Station is situated approximately 30km south of Te Kuiti, on the banks of the Mangapehi River.
Originally owned by The Lines Company, the Mangapehi Station intake is located upriver amongst native bush which is maintained by Pioneer Energy Renewables. The water is conveyed to the station via 2.46km of mainly above ground steel pipe.
The station is designed to run unattended and is maintained by local contractors, supported by staff from the wider North Island Pioneer Energy Renewables team.
The Power Station consists of two generators and is connected to The Lines Company distribution network.
